Ryll-Nardzewski Prize

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Professor Czesław Ryll-Nardzewski's birth, the Ryll-Nardzewski Center at Wrocław University of Science and Technology announces the competition for the Ryll-Nardzewski Prize. The prize is to be awarded for outstanding achievements in mathematics in areas related to the work of Czesław Ryll-Nardzewski, published no earlier than 2016. No other eligibility restrictions apply.

The Ryll-Nardzewski Prize of €25,000 is sponsored by the Mayor of Wrocław. Submissions should be sent to crn.prize@pwr.edu.pl by December 31, 2025.

Detailed information

The Ryll-Nardzewski Prize of €25,000 is funded by the Mayor of Wrocław.

The prize is awarded on the basis of an article, or a cohesive series of articles, published in mathematical journals after 2016, thematically related to the work of Czesław Ryll-Nardzewski — including but not limited to logic, descriptive set theory, probability, stochastic processes, functional analysis, harmonic analysis, measure theory, and ergodic theory.

Nominations for the prize may be submitted by scientific institutions, such as mathematics faculties at institutions of higher education, research centers, mathematical societies, and individual distinguished scientists. Each nomination must be endorsed by at least three professors of mathematics, and should include the following:

  • Personal details of the candidate sufficient for clear identification and contact: full name, current affiliation, and email address;
  • A brief academic CV of the candidate, including any scientific awards or honors received;
  • A concise description of the result(s) forming the basis of the nomination, along with an explanation of their significance for the development of mathematics and their connection to the work of Czesław Ryll-Nardzewski;
  • Copies of the article(s) containing the relevant results, or links to open-access versions of the publications;
  • Information on any awards received — or confirmation that none were received — for the nominated work;
  • Consent of the nominated person, which constitutes acceptance of these Regulations and a declaration of willingness to attend the award ceremony in Wrocław in September 2026 if selected;
  • GDPR Consent Form.

Nominations should be submitted electronically to crn.prize@pwr.edu.pl as a zip file containing all necessary documents, no later than December 31, 2025.

The award ceremony will take place in September 2026 in Wrocław, Poland, as part of an international scientific conference, during which the winner will deliver the honorary Ryll-Nardzewski Lecture.

Full terms and conditions can be found in the Regulations of the Competition for the Ryll-Nardzewski Prize.
